"… I Wish …"

Into The Woods

ITW Poster Final3

The Brothers Grimm will hit the NCSA stage (Brubeck Theatre) with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make!

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim have taken everyone's favorite storybook characters and brought them together for a timeless yet relevant piece.  Into the Woods is considered a rare modern classic. The TONY Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with sometimes disastrous results.

SYNOPSIS    Rock star Conrad Birdie is the biggest thing to top the charts. Women love him, men want to be him and teenage girls around the country scream with glee at the mere mention of his name. But when the United States Army drafts Birdie, manager Albert Peterson sees his meal ticket preparing to fly the coop (much to the delight of longtime love Rose Alvarez, who can’t wait for Albert to ditch the music biz and become something respectable, like an English teacher). Desperate for a publicity stunt big enough to help them survive Birdie’s departure, Albert and Rose hatch a plan: send Conrad to small-town America to plant his goodbye kiss on one lucky fan for the entire world to see. Their selection of super fan Kim Macafee sends the wholesome enclave of Sweet Apple, Ohio into chaos. Kim’s boyfriend, Hugo, can’t take the humiliation of his lady love’s televised lip-lock. Rose can’t take another minute of Albert’s distracted ways. And Sweet Apple can’t take its teens' riotous rebellion, inspired by the arrival of bad-boy Birdie. Will Sweet Apple ever be the same?

First produced on Broadway with Mary Martin and Cyril Ritchard, Peter Pan is one of the world's most celebrated musicals. Here is all the charm of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, the children Wendy, Michael and John, pirates and Indians, embellished with show-stopping songs, "Never Never Land", "I Won't Grow Up" and "I'm Flying".

SHREK, THE MUSICAL based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, Shrek, the musical - brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to life on stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. When you throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits,  you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

Featuring a terrific score of 19 all-new songs, big laughs, and great dancing!

SHREK THE MUSICAL is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

..Jenna has grown so much in the last year to two years...working with you both, and because of her voice lessons with you. We are amazed at the improvement in her has really blossomed and I am just so proud of her. Theater is such a wonderful way to teach important life lessons and create a strong sense of self-worth and acceptance of others, and you both should feel proud of the superior job you do in accomplishing these lessons...while at the same time making it FUN! Thank you for creating experiences that Jenna will take with her as she grows into an adult - we are so lucky to have you and NCSA!" R. LaMar

Based in Encinitas, the North County School of the Arts is owned and operated by Pamela Laurent and Scott Gregory, both professional performers and teachers.

Keeping cast sizes small allows the NCSA to focus on getting the most out of each performer.  Expecting actors to work hard and enjoy the accomplishment is what the NCSA is all about!
